At Camp ¡Vámonos! spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas and summer camps, children are active, while being safe in the sun. We walk and use public transportation (bus and train) for our outings, so campers learn pedestrian safety as well.
My campers play with “loose parts,” which promote imagination, cooperation, and creativity. They make decisions about what to do and how to do it, which promotes executive functioning and responsibility.
About Megan Baker
I’m a bilingual mom with tons of childcare experience and respect for kids’ intelligence. I let them take reasonable risks and solve their problems as much as possible because that’s how they learn and develop self-control and mastery. I also encourage them to help each other instead of looking to me for everything. I don’t talk down to kids and I don’t treat them like glass figurines. I help them when they need it and I don’t when they don’t, and I don’t assume they need adults to figure everything out for them. I do, however, laugh quite a bit with them. They can be quite funny, you know!
